The short answer is that you might. But ask yourself, which employees would most likely leave? Your non-user employees would appreciate your concern and also not having to work around possible unsafe behavior, absenteeism, and the other hazards drug-using workers bring with them to work. Your employees using drugs might leave, and this would remove their potential liability from your business. You win both ways.
It will always be easier to hire people that use drugs. Since more businesses test for drugs now, drug users apply where they won't get tested. So if you don't test, you should have plenty of applicants. But would you rather have a larger pile of applications to sift through to find the one best hire, or have a smaller pile to sift through knowing that none in the smaller pile use drugs? Have and advertise a drug-testing policy for applicants, and drug users likely won't apply. Your pile will be smaller and of higher quality.
We can't say without talking with you first. Our prices for various tests are on our home page, and we discount these prices for larger accounts. But think about this, a TN Dept of Labor study found drug users are 1/3 less productive on average. So if you're paying someone $10/hr, if they use drugs, you're getting about $6.33 worth of work each hour. This costs you $3.67/hr. for each hour they work. If they work 40 hrs./week, that's over $146/week; you have overpaid this one person. So, how much are you already losing if you aren't testing for drugs?
Your employees who don't use drugs will likely appreciate the fact that you want to keep your workplace drug-free. Think how they would feel if even 1 drug user got through your hiring process. Drugs cost money, so many drug users will want a paycheck. How hard they are willing to work for it is another story.
We're glad you asked! Midway Rehab Testing Services has been helping area employers with their drug testing needs for over 20 years. We have the resources to help your business, whether you need only collection and testing or additional help developing and implementing a drug testing program, managing random testing programs, consulting, and more. Let our experience work for you!
Yes, we can! Although our main office is located in Knoxville, Midway Rehab participates in a network that allows your employees to get their tests performed at 11 locations in Knoxville and coast to coast. Unless they're in the middle of Wyoming, there should be a collection center nearby. And since the price you pay depends on who you order the test through instead of who collects it, many of our customers have found that they can order the test through Midway Rehab, have their employee go to the same place they have always gone for collection, and your business still saves on the cost. Tell us where your employees need testing, and let us show you how much you can save.
We list most of our available tests on our website. If you need a test not listed, contact us. It's likely we can perform the test you need, but we just did not list it because it is infrequently requested.
First, hair testing costs more than urine testing. Second, hair testing gives a longer look-back period than urine testing. While a person may produce a negative result on a urine test for drug use after as little as 3 days of abstinence from some drugs if the person is a habitual drug user, a hair test can detect prior use for up to 90 days. Third, a hair drug test is practically impossible to cheat. Since, for most tests, hair can be used from any area of the body, the person being tested would have to remove all hair from their body to avoid the test. The collection tech collects the hair, so there's no chance of substitution by the person being tested. Products/methods advertised to cleanse or detox the hair don't work. Contact Midway Rehab Testing Services for further points to consider regarding hair drug testing.
Hard to say with certainty, but many pain medications will cause a "positive " drug test. If the place you are applying has a formal drug testing program, there's a good chance they will use a service provider that includes the services of a "Medical Review Officer" (MRO). This is a medical doctor who is trained to verify any prescriptions with the person testing positive and evaluate the results in light of the additional information collected. So, if you have a valid prescription and are not abusing your pain meds, they should present no problem if an MRO is used. But if you want to know ahead of time if you will test "positive," you can come to Midway Rehab for a test and find out. Schedule this from our home page and request an "Instant Drug Test". You will have your answer with 99% certainty before leaving.
See the answer to the question above.
At Midway Rehab, we can test for the presence of drugs. However, we cannot counsel parents/guardians on the range of responses and treatments for those using drugs illegally. There are abundant resources available online to find local substance abuse professionals. These may be covered by health insurance, depending on your plan. But maybe a good place to begin would be to find out if your suspicions are accurate or not. Talk with your teen about having a drug test. If you can persuade them to have a test without causing a disturbance, schedule a test at Midway Rehab and find out for sure. Midway Rehab does not test minors without a parent/guardian's permission and presence.
It could be. CBD ( Cannabidiol) and THC (tetrahydrocannabinol) are both found in cannabis plants. Depending on manufacturing methods, sources of raw materials, and formulations, the CBD oil you use might cause a positive test for THC. How much you use could also be a factor. CBD oil products are not standardized by the FDA, and we're only talking about domestic sources. If it comes from overseas, who knows what it contains? Midway Rehab performs drug tests and most of the tests we perform for employers can be performed for individuals also. If Midway Rehab performs the test for you, no one but you gets the results, and you know for sure.
Midway Rehab can perform a test that looks for the same substances as the current DOT urine drug test. Go to our homepage and look for "Individual 5-panel test (DOT twin)." If you can pass this test legitimately, you should have no problem with a DOT test.
In one word, "No". Test collectors and labs have seen it all before when it comes to those who try to cheat. The only way to pass a drug test is to be drug free. If the collection tech catches you trying to cheat, you will be re-tested and watched while you pee in the cup. If you refuse, it will be reported to your employer. If you are DOT-regulated, you may lose your driving privileges and your job and be reported to the DOT. If you happen to get out of the collection process without getting caught, the lab will detect cheating when it analyzes the specimen. Midway Rehab is against cheating in any form.
